The Kerry Biosphere was delighted to team up with Kerry County Council to prepare biodiversity themed tables at libraries throughout the County. Participating libraries included Castleisland, Dingle, Killarney, Killorglin, and Listowel. Biodiversity themed literature, skate and ray egg cases, oak salplings, and native broadleaves were proudly displayed in each library.
Spearheaded by the Kerry County Council Biodiversity Officer, Eleanor Turner, the initiative was a great success. There was positive feedback from the libraries and their patrons. The display in the Killarney Library was sited in the conference room to the rear of the library, here Leaving Cert students had gathered to prepare for English Paper 1 on Wednesday 4th June. I'm sure the biodiversity themed table provide some respite from the stress of exams, with brith colours and new life on the tables with the Oak and broadleaf plants. The Biosphere provided an array of literature from our very own Biosphere booklets and Bird ID Swatches and posters, to Wildlife in Buildings and Saving Our Swifts. Killarney and Killorglin Libraries have kept the tables for now, a proud display! The Kerry Biosphere would like to thank the Kerry Libraries for their wilfull participation and Kerry County Council for spearheading the initiative.
