The Kerry Biosphere would like to thank the guest speakers and participants at our end of year Conference in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney on Friday December 12th 2025. Our Conference focussed on 'Water and the Biosphere' and also included presentations on the work undertaken in Killarney National Park and through the ACRES Agricultural Programme.

The Kerry Biosphere was delighted to welcome a large group to the event which was hosted exceptionally well by the Gleneagle Hotel. Two of our speakers were struck down with the seasonal winter flu and help was at hand to keep the show on the road! We were thrilled to welcome the National Parks and Wildlife Service Divisional Manager, Mr Éamonn Meskell. Éamonn presented on deer, rhododendron, and water in the Killarney National Park. Ecologists Stephen O'Shea and Luke Myers from the Kerry / West Cork ACRES Programme presented on the Kerry UNESCO Biosphere reserve and water related projects and initiatives undertaken by the Biosphere. We were also delighted for Dáire O'Hare Doherty to present on the ACRES Programme in Kerry. Dáire is an agri-ecologist based in the Kenmare region for the ACRES Programme. Eleanor Turner, Biodiversity Officer with Kerry County Council provided an interesting talk on water in the County from the Council's perspective, a welcome and well recieved presentation. We are grateful to our guest speakers and for those that attended our Conference to support our Biosphere, go raibh míle maith agat!
