We were delighted to host our first in-person Advisory Council meeting. We held the meeting in the South Kerry Development Partnerships office in Killarney on Monday 18th May. We were thrilled with the turnout and the level of contribution offered by each participant.

We were joined by active community members from across the Biosphere (and beyond) for an evening of meaningful discussion and conversation. The aim of the Advisory Council is to provide a liasion focal point of communication between the Biosphere and local community groups. Our meeting will also be of benefit to the development of a Management Plan for the Reserve. Participants in the Advisory Council can contribute to the information required to inform the Plan and are aware of potential issues that impact on the Biosphere. Similarly, participants may highlight positive impacts that have a favourable effect on the Biosphere and biodiversity. This first meeting provides a stepping stone for future meetings and provides the Biosphere with an opportunity to realise synergies between the Reserve and community groups.
